We are over the moon to announce that the Room to Be pitch for the Changemakers Dundee SOUP microgrant was a success and £1000 was awarded to us to make our project a reality. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and vote for the project!
The Plan: to create a planting and seating area in the Boomerang Community Centre growing space in Stobswell which will be popping with art, colour and sensory stimulation. This will be a collaboration project with other community groups to help strengthen LGBTQIA+ allyship and forge new networks and connections.
Winning this pitch is a great way for Room to Be to say thank you to the Boomerang crew who have been incredibly generous in allowing us to use their facilities and look after their growing space which we hope to further develop with them.
Well done Tierney, who was also awarded £1000 to start up her gardening initiative engaging young people in making the city look more beautiful through tending planters. And the third prize of £1000 was split between the three remaining projects as each received the same number of votes.
It was another brilliant Changemaker event with great opportunities to network and meet people who are taking steps to create meaningful change in Dundee. Thank you for the SOUP, both the event itself and the literal kind on offer (which was delicious!)
