Strange Strangers (of water), Thursday 14th August, 6-8pm
'Strange Strangers' is a queer ecology study group initiated by artist AJ Stockwell as part of their studio fellowship at DJCAD. The group meets monthly with each gathering focusing on a different area of interest.
Our third gathering of 'Strange Strangers' will take place in my studio in the Matthew Building at DJCAD. This session will focus on water, thinking about the ways in which engage with water through immersion, extraction and as fluid bodies, and I'm very excited that Beth Stephens has given permission to screen the film they made with partner Annie Sprinkles, Water Makes Us Wet! Annie & Beth describe themselves as eco-sexuals, considering the earth as their lover treating 'the earth with respect, affection & sensuality'. Here's some more details about the film:
Water Makes us Wet
With a poetic blend of curiosity, humour, sensuality and concern, this film chronicles the pleasures and politics of H2O from an ecosexual perspective. Travel around California with Annie, a former sex worker, Beth, a professor, and their dog Butch, in their E.A.R.T.H. Lab mobile unit, as they explore water in the Golden State.
