What a wonderful way to spend a grizzly grey Saturday. Room to Be took part in the Eden Project Communities annual Big Lunch! And we included this year a Swap Shop and Repair and Share. Members came together to share food, swap preloved items and repair clothes that were otherwise destined for the bin.

Swaps included books on feminism and colonialism, terrible fiction about gay werewolves, a colourful herbarium, a deck of tarot cards and plenty of clothes items. Anything not swapped was taken to a charity shop.
Food included: fresh fruit, snacky bits and dips, cupcakes, banana bread and plenty of homemade salads (spiced chickpea and potato, pesto pasta, Mediterranean butterbean, and fresh lettuce leaves sown and grown by Room to Be).

Activities were centred around fixing clothes with El who taught basic stitching; we also wandered around the garden, observed bumble bees in their roof nests, did a spot of gardening and blethered about rain gardens, bugs, recipes and life.
... how very wholesome! When the world feels like it is going to absolute s***, there is sometimes a call for get togethers like this that are by nature simple, kind and uncomplictaedly pleasant.

Thank you to all our members who joined for our wee mid year celebration! And if you weren't there, you were much missed.
