AGM: What an Amazingly Great Meeting

Thank you so much to our members who were able to attend on Friday 16th May 2025 for our first ever Annual General Meeting. We were well equipped with 'mocktails' (aka juice with a cocktail umbrella in it), cupcakes and other sugary items wholly questionable for our teeth and a plate of watermelon in an attempt to offset all the sugar and E-numbers (thank you Amara!).
It was a great turn out with 11 members in attendance, one of whom was Alex from Transdonians who was able to offer invaluable advice from their experience within organising community groups.
All necessary items of business were covered:
The election of committee members
Treasury
Constitution
Minutes of the meeting will be circulated in due course and all agreed amendments to our Constitution will be written up with a final draft circulated to membership before our next General Meeting (date to be confirmed).
Room to Be's Committee has now been democratically elected. Huzzah!
Chairperson: Emile Mackie
Secretary: Mel Kalkan
Treasurer: Hollis Crowe
With 3 unassigned roles going to Amara, Anna and El.
A Steering Committee has also been formed for members who would like to be more involved and give regular feedback. Two of the four positions for this have been filled.
We are super proud of how far this grassroots community group has come in just 5 months and cannot wait to see how this project will grow and develop now we are working collectively. Room to Be has such a big heart and so much soul. We have created a beautiful thing in a very difficult world. Well done everyone involved!
